![]() ![]() There’s nothing to gain by putting a couple more fillers on there just to fill it up, and I like the thought that they’ve got more like This Modern Glitch still up their sleeve for the next album. I’m glad they kept it to 10 songs on the album. ![]() Coincidence? Ok, probably.Īlso a couple of honourable mentions go to Our Perfect Disease, and Walking Disasters. Actually I just checked, and their album Spiders was released in 1996. ![]() On reflection in the less epic moments I’m reminded of the band Space which I quite liked in the ’90s. Have to say though that I like the Wombats version of 1996 much more than recollections of my 1996. Songs that focus on a year are nothing new, but it seems too early to be looking back on the year through rose coloured glasses. I’m more than concerned about The Wombats hankering for the olden days in 1996. Oh’s and ah’s are replaced by “woo-op-woo-oo’s”, and it’s the kind of thing that’s easy to jump around to. ![]() The tempo changes by the time you get to Techno Fan, which is louder, and faster, and much more fun. I take it as a commentary on the way that it seems like everyone’s on medication for some type of ailment. Next up it’s Anti-D which starts with lots of strings, lots of epic-ness, and added earnestness. My descriptions might be getting repetitive, but the music isn’t. #THE WOMBATS THIS MODERN GLITCH TORRENT DOWNLOAD PLUS#It has more of the ah’s and oh’s, plus some strings for some extra epic-ness. Jump Into the Fog has a big sound, with lots going on, and the music changes throughout the song, all of which I like. Like many of the songs it’s got an epic-ness, and even if you’ve never heard it before you’ll be chiming in with “Ah, oh, ah, ah, ah” before the end. Track two, Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves), is the first one that I recognise. From this album I’m struggling to pick a favourite. Having heard the name over the years I’ve been surprised at just how many of The Wombats songs I know, both from this album, and from earlier in their career. The singer’s accent is instantly recognisable, but even if that wasn’t the case, their music is a new twist on the sound of many groups that have come from the UK, think Britpop et al. You’d never make any mistake with the band’s origins in the Mother Country though. Besides the fact that those names were probably already taken, the wouldn’t have really suited them either, with the exception of the Wombles perhaps? Honestly, I can see why they didn’t go for something more British, like The Bulldogs, the Steak and Kidneys, or even the Wombles. The Wombats: band from England, similar to the animal only in name apparently. Wombat: furry animal from Australia, known for being slow, and hanging out in holes.
